About UQAC

UQAC: Free to look ahead

More and more, when people ask about the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi, the same subject comes up: the advantages of studying in a leading university of a small size. Reasonably small classroom sizes and professors who are concerned about their students are some of the factors that make UQAC an educational institution where it's possible to feel that you're a somebody. UQAC's 6 500 students share a faculty of 220 professors.

The university cares about the evolution and development of its institution. Each year, new programs are added while others are modified and improved. Infrastructure is being built and updated, and the Institution presently enjoys 15 pavilions, most of which are interconnected by skywalks and underground passages - a feature that is greatly appreciated by students.

Since 1971, UQAC has been giving students from Alma, La Malbaie, Saint-Félicien and Sept-Îles the possibility to study in their respective regions. These off-campus study centres, designed to facilitate access to university studies in the region, offer programs in a wide range of appealing subjects such as Administration, Human Resources Management, Health Sciences, Education Science, Psychology, Arts and Humanities, Environment and Computer Science. Using televised teaching, students can simultaneously take a training course from Saguenay.

Presently and since several years now, the Institution is working on the research level in order to ensure that their technological discoveries and scientific breakthroughs become a reality in the university setting not only in Quebec, but also abroad. Accordingly, UQAC would like to become - with its professors, research chairs, laboratories and students - a reference for niches of excellence.
