WELCOME TO EMICLab
(Electric Machines Identification and Control Laboratory)

Head of Lab. Students Collaborators Research Programs Publications

EMICLab is a research laboratory accredited by the University of Quebec at Chicoutimi.  The research orientations are:

  • Advanced control of electric machines (induction, synchronous with permanent magnet and variable reluctance ) for applications:

  1. In traction (train, subway and electric car),

  2. Wind energy conversion.

  • Power Electronics,

  • Power Quality (Harmonics).

The objective is rapid prototyping of control systems through Hardware-in-the-Loop simulations. Other research activities include the development of various state estimators, harmonics active filtering and maximum power point tracking algorithms for wind energy conversion systems.

Facilities:

  • Real-time Development Platform (Opal-RT).
  • DSP development board - DS1104.
  • Various Electric Drives (Induction Machine, Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine, Switched Reluctance Machine and DC Machine)
  • 4 System Level Prototyping Stations.
  • Measurement and Visualization Equipments.
  • Different Simulation Softwares (RT-Lab, Matlab/Simulink,...)
