SUMMARY

The Department of Applied Sciences at the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi invites applications for a full-time assistant professor position to assume a primary role in theoretical and practical teaching across all three levels in the field of metallurgy. Additionally, the selected candidate will be expected to contribute to research, development and supervise graduate students.

The priority areas for this position include metallurgy, with a particular focus on physical and mechanical aspects, transformation processes, alloy behaviour and design, and advanced characterization of metallic materials.

REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate must:

  • Have a PhD in metallurgical engineering related to the specified areas or possess equivalent qualifications1.
  • Be a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (or an engineering corporation in Canada)1.
  • Demonstrate exceptional skills in teaching and university-level research.
  • Possess sufficient proficiency in the French language1, as teaching and academic activities at UQAC are conducted in French.

ASSETS

The following qualifications and experiences will be considered as an asset:

  • Relevant academic and/or industrial research background (e.g., experience as a postdoctoral researcher).
  • Proficiency in scientific writing demonstrated through publications in esteemed journals.
  • Experience as a leader of research programs evidenced by securing grants and/or contracts as a principal investigator.
  • Skills in mathematical modelling of metallurgical processes and simulation of metallic material behaviour, as demonstrated through theses and/or publications.
  • Skills in surface science and coatings.
  • Experience in university-level teaching, including instructing courses at various levels and supervising graduate students.
  • Relevant experience in teamwork and collaboration within multidisciplinary settings during research projects.

SALARY

The salary is determined based on qualifications and experience.

WORK CONDITIONS

The work conditions are governed by the current collective agreement.

WORKPLACE

The workplace is in Chicoutimi and, occasionally, at study centers.
