Sergio Rossi, professeur associ\u00e9 et charg\u00e9 de cours au D\u00e9partement des sciences fondamentales de l\u2019UQAC, et Nathalie Isabel, chercheuse au Centre de foresterie des Laurentides, ont conduit le projet qui visait \u00e0 d\u00e9terminer l\u2019impact du r\u00e9chauffement climatique sur la r\u00e9activation de la croissance au printemps chez des conif\u00e8res de la zone bor\u00e9ale.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Les mod\u00e8les actuels de croissance sont bas\u00e9s sur les temp\u00e9ratures moyennes journali\u00e8res, malgr\u00e9 que les sc\u00e9narios de variation homog\u00e8ne de la temp\u00e9rature ne soient pas repr\u00e9sentatifs de la situation climatique actuelle. Afin de pallier ces lacunes, l\u2019\u00e9quipe a con\u00e7u et r\u00e9alis\u00e9 des exp\u00e9riences en milieu contr\u00f4l\u00e9 correspondant aux conditions observ\u00e9es en for\u00eat bor\u00e9ale. Des \u00e9pinettes noires issues de partout au Qu\u00e9bec et provenant de milieux climatiques vari\u00e9s ont \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9tudi\u00e9es. L\u2019\u00e9quipe a pris en compte \u00e0 la fois les conditions climatiques et la g\u00e9n\u00e9tique des arbres afin de pr\u00e9dire comment l\u2019\u00e9pinette noire pourrait r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 un r\u00e9chauffement climatique, pour ensuite d\u00e9terminer les risques potentiels de dommage par le gel. Ils ont ainsi d\u00e9couvert que l\u2019\u00e9closion des bourgeons est devanc\u00e9e d\u2019environ trois jours pendant un r\u00e9chauffement des temp\u00e9ratures de jour. Le r\u00e9chauffement de nuit a un effet moins important. Le r\u00e9chauffement nocturne actuel apporterait donc un devancement plus modeste du d\u00e9bourrement qu\u2019un r\u00e9chauffement des temp\u00e9ratures de jour. Ceci donnerait aux arbres plus de chance d\u2019\u00e9chapper \u00e0 une gel\u00e9e tardive. Cette \u00e9tude novatrice fournit de bonnes nouvelles quant \u00e0 l\u2019impact des changements climatiques sur la for\u00eat bor\u00e9ale. Les r\u00e9sultats de ce projet permettront d\u2019ailleurs de proposer de nouveaux mod\u00e8les plus repr\u00e9sentatifs de la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 pour pr\u00e9dire la dynamique de croissance des arbres et de s\u00e9questration du carbone avec diff\u00e9rents sc\u00e9narios climatiques.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Les chercheurs de l\u2019UQAC et du Service canadien des for\u00eats collaborent activement depuis de nombreuses ann\u00e9es pour la d\u00e9termination des effets des changements climatiques sur la dynamique de croissance des arbres.
