Retro analysis of collapses to better assess the stability of future mine sites in operation

The project’s main objective is to determine the causes of post-blasting collapse in the Niobec mine by applying back analysis and the numerical modelling of past cases of instability. As a first step, we will map discontinuities in several blocks of the mine to determine the characteristics of different joint sets. Then, we will apply numerical modelling software developed in the field of rock mechanics to perform a back analysis. A final step involves proposing solutions to prevent this problem.
