Development of optical sensors for monitoring power transformers

Today, electricity transmission and distribution grids are in the era of integrating new digital and wireless communication technologies. These new technologies constitute a major lever in the service of the energy transition. This ambitious transition notably involves the massive development of smart sensors. Smarter and more communicative, the so-called “smart grids” allow efficient, fine-tuned and real-time energy management, able to predict power outages. Optical sensors, capable of keeping pace with technological advancement, are of interest due to a consequent reduction in design costs, immunity to stray magnetic/electric fields and improved technical portability.
