Recruitment

Student recruitment is always open. Candidates with expertise and interests compatible with the lab activities are invited to submit their application for a Master or a PhD. Topics include projects on forest ecology, ecophysiology, phenology, xylogenesis, forestry, biogeography, climate change and modelling.

The students are expected to develop autonomously their research, work in close cooperation with scientists and practitioners, and spread knowledge both across the scientific community and the local partners. Candidate must demonstrate passion, creativity, critical thinking, communication skills, and ability for team working. A driving licence is required for most projects.

The lab offers an international and collaborative environment for graduate students and researchers willing to pursue their passions in the science, advance their career, and become competitive for a successful and quick job placement. Students can benefit from a wide name recognition, close relationships with directors and mentors, modern facilities, and innovative research equipment. We form scientists with high qualifications and profile suitable for filling faculty and academic positions worldwide.

The university is located in Chicoutimi (Quebec, Canada), in the forest kingdom at the border between the temperate and the boreal biome. We offer MSc and PhD scholarships for the duration of the study period. The scholarship can be revised based on the performances and funding availability. The best applicants submitting a candidature undergo an evaluation by an internal committee formed by expert students and researchers of the lab. We promote the excellence through diversity: women and candidates from other historically under-represented groups are encouraged to apply.
